Microorganisms as producers of natural products are at the focus of research at the HKI - either as source for nove potential antiinfectives, or as causative agents of severe infections. Young scientists who made outstanding new discoveries in this field were honoured with the medac research award 2016. Among them are ILRS doctoral researcher Martin Klapper and and ILRS alumna Sarah Höfs. Congratulations!

The award which is donated by the pharmaceutical company medac GmbH from Wedel, Germany, is endowed with 10.000 Euro and was presented to the awardees during the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of the HKI. Support of young researchers and enabling interdisciplinary interactions are very important to the medac GmbH.
